Frequently asked questions

What services do you offer at your dental practice?

Routine check up and hygienist appointments Restorative treatment such as fillings, bridges, crowns, onlays and dentures Dental Implants Cosmetic treatment, including whitening Oral surgery, including extractions Root canal (endodontic) treatments Invisalign

How often should I visit the dentist for a check-up and cleaning?

It is recommended that you visit your dentist for a check-up and cleaning at least every six months. This allows your dentist to monitor your oral health, identify any potential issues early on, and provide you with a professional cleaning to remove any plaque or tartar buildup that cannot be removed through brushing and flossing alone. Your dentist may recommend more frequent visits if you have certain risk factors, such as a history of gum disease or if you are a smoker. Ultimately, it is important to discuss your individual oral health needs with your dentist to determine the ideal frequency of visits for you.

How can I book an appointment at you dental practice?

You can book online or phone one of our helpful reception team on 01873 854711.

What should I expect during my first visit to your dental practice?

Prior to your appointment you will receive text and/or email reminders and if required, will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire.

On arrival at the practices we have a dedicated car park on site at our Abergavenny practice and in New Inn there are free car parks very close to the practice.

During your first appointment the dentist will assess your teeth and mouth and will let you know if you require any treatment. If you do require any treatment you will receive a full treatment plan.

What should I do if I need to rearrange or cancel an appointment?

Patients are requested to give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel a dental appointment. Cancellations should be made via email, text or email. Dental appointments that are missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be subject to a 50% charge.

Do you offer emergency dental services?

We have emergency slots throughout the week to ensure you can be seen at the earliest opportunity. Our phone lines open at 08.30am; please help us by telephoning before 10.00am in order for us to assist you in securing an appropriate appointment.

If you have an emergency out of our normal working hours, please telephone our normal phone line and leave a message and we will return your call. If your dental needs are urgent, follow the instructions for out of hours support.

At the weekends, Lodge Dental patients have access to the regional emergency dentist. The phone number is 07623 984723. This number is provided on our answerphone message. There is an access fee for using this service for all patients although treatment can be reclaimed for denplan care patients.
